A little know-how
Frequently Asked Questions
From finding the right fit to caring for your new pot, here are the details that make choosing easier.
Ask us a questionWhich size plant pot should I choose?
Measure the widest part of your plant's nursery pot. As a starting point, choose a decorative pot with a clear opening 1–2 cm wider, and check that it is deep enough too. Product sizes and measurements can describe different parts of a pot, so check the product details rather than relying on the size name alone.
If you are unsure, send us your nursery pot measurements and we will help you find a fit.
Do your pots have drainage holes?
Some do and some do not. Check each product description for drainage information and whether that particular pot is suitable for outdoor use.
For a decorative pot without a drainage hole, keep the plant in a separate nursery pot inside it. Let excess water drain before putting it back, and empty any water that collects in the cover pot.
Is a plant included with my pot?
We sell pots and planters only. Plants in styling photographs show how a pot can look at home and are not included. For a plant to pair with your pot, visit our sister site, Houseplant.co.uk.
Can I plant straight into a decorative pot?
Check the drainage details for that product first. If there is no drainage hole, we recommend keeping your plant in its nursery pot inside the decorative pot. Lift the nursery pot out to water, allow it to drain, then return it to the cover pot.
Do not leave the roots sitting in collected water.
Will the finish look exactly like the photograph?
Glazed, hand-finished and natural-material pots can vary slightly in colour, texture, pattern and size. These variations are part of their character. Your screen settings can also affect how a colour appears. Read the individual product description for details of its material and finish.
Where do you deliver, and when will my order be sent?
We deliver to England, Scotland and Wales only. We are currently unable to deliver to Northern Ireland. Express delivery is £7.99 for baskets under £20, £4.99 for £20–£49.99, and free from £50.
Please allow 1–2 days for processing. We dispatch Monday–Saturday and do not dispatch on Sundays. Your order travels with the tracked DPD Next Day service after dispatch; this does not mean delivery the day after ordering.
We email your tracking link when your parcel is dispatched. For a particular arrival date, email us before ordering. See our shipping policy for full details.
Can I send a pot as a gift?
Yes. Enter the recipient's delivery address in England, Scotland or Wales at checkout. You can add a card message in your basket and our team will handwrite it on a small card. Orders with a gift message are sent without an itemised invoice in the parcel.
If you need help with a message, contact us before the order is dispatched.
Gift recipients can email us directly for help arranging an unsuitable-gift return. The usual return conditions apply; see our refund policy.
What if my pot arrives damaged, or I change my mind?
If your pot arrives damaged or faulty, contact us with your order number and photographs of the item and packaging so that we can help.
For change-of-mind returns, cancellation periods and the full conditions, please read our refund policy.
